Week 2, Day 2: "Where Everybody Knows Your Name"

After securing Little Italy, I stuck around to make sure the GCPD was able to re-established a presence in the territory. As I took to the skies, I heard a familiar sound, a sound that reminds me of home – Metropolis. The signal was specifically for me. Only one person in the world had the ability to send that signal. I followed the signal to a small popular restaurant in the Diamond District where all sorts of characters tend to stop and take a bite, or so I’m told. I entered through the door and was greeted by none other than my good old pal, Jimmy Olsen.

“Superman, over here!”

The staff did not budge at my name being called. I guess they really are used to all sorts of people coming and going. I walked towards Jimmy, who was sitting in a booth by the window. We chatted a bit. He talked about how Perry had been letting him have more responsibility, no longer just bound to be “Lois and Clark’s photographer”, by getting to write his own column. After the small talk was over, I decided to cut to the chase.

“Jimmy, what are you doing in Gotham City?” I asked

His usual cheerful expression turned a bit gloom.

“Superman, I didn’t want to tell you this, but things are pretty getting bad in Metropolis. Ever since you left, there are some individuals who have taken advantage of your absence and become bolder with their criminal activities”, he said with a bit of dread in his voice.

With a reassuring smile, I say to him, “Jimmy, do not worry. As soon as I finish helping Batman finish this war, I’ll be back in Metropolis. Those ‘individuals’ will certainly get what’s coming to them.”
