Week 1, Day 4: "Altered States"
Roy wasn’t too happy to see me. I could not confirm if the rumors that he had relapsed were true. Rather than talk to me, Roy shot a few explosive arrows that caused the ceiling to collapse, placing bystanders in danger. Reckless. He knew I would be able to save them and fix the mess he had caused, more importantly he knew I had to let him escape in order to do so. After making things right at the Cineplex, I made my way back to S.T.A.R. Labs.
Dr. Klein had returned to his lab to work on our mutual project. Before going up there, I made sure to dress for the occasion. As I entered the lab, Dr. Klein was sitting in his hover chair dissecting all the information pouring from all the monitors in his main console.
“Dr. Klein, I am back. How is the experiment coming along?”
He answered me without yet turning away from his console, “Superman, I am so glad you could stop by. I actually have some new data to show you, it’s quite interest-…” His sentence cuts off as he turned to look at me. With a warm smile on his face he continued, “Superman, you didn't have to wear the kryptonite resistant suit. I assure you, the kryptonite is well insulated within the lead-infused fiberglass that’s housing it”.
Trying to mask the worry in my voice, I replied “I know Doc. I just don’t want to take any chances. I need to be in full strength if I am to help Batman reclaim this city”.
As I said that, I noticed one of the monitors on the wall had the map of Gotham City. Dr. Klein had live status update feed of “territory” changes between “the players” that were running around the city. Seeing that reminds me that this war could last a long time, time I’ll be away from the beautiful wife…
