Debadeepta Dey says of the project, "We didn’t want to like get ourselves bogged down into a research problem for which there are methods out there that sort of work but not always. So we found that if we tried to get the 3D structure of the vineyard we'd get very useful information--like when you want to disambiguate where the grapes are from the foliage."
