Cromarty, Black Isle 2011

The Black Isle is an eastern area of the Highland local government council area of Scotland, within the county of Ross and Cromarty. The name nearly always includes the article "the".

It includes the town of Cromarty, and such villages as Conon Bridge, Muir of Ord, Munlochy, Avoch, Rosemarkie, Fortrose, Tore, North Kessock, and Culbokie

 

Cromarty Lighthouse an almost urban lighthouse, it sits at the end of George Street in the middle of this historic town. Built in 1846 to mark the entrance to the Cromarty Firth it was decommissioned in 2006. The keeper’s cottage is used as a field station by the University of Aberdeen Zoology Department.
