8 Spotted Forester
I found this butterfly alongside an asphalt road in extreme heat. It seemed catatonic, and it sat on my hand as we walked home. I put it on a shaded flower and photographed it, placing sugar water right next to it on the flower. It was gone the next morning: I am not sure if it revived or was picked off by a bird, but it was not found nearby.
This is an Eight Spotted Forester, I am told in the Bug Identification group. bugguide.net/node/view/485?fbclid=IwAR1yA66az3B5d-VCDO3st...
I am so happy to see that there are a lot more butterflies and Monarchs around this year after seeing almost none 2 years ago.
The image is from automated focus bracketing with a Helicon FB Tube, and Canon 5dsr in burst mode. Two sets were taken: one with a high F stop for max depth of field and the second with a low F stop for a good bokeh. The two images were blended in post.
