American Bittern - Botaurus lentiginosus, Everglades National Park, Homestead, Florida

These birds are not uncommon, but they are secretive. I've never been fortunate enough to get a clear shot of one, but this shows typical behavior, skulking through the vegetation, its coloration acting as excellent camouflage.
