Gama Pinto Car, Mapusa, Goa (Old Photograph)

A vintage picture of a car belonging to the Gama Pinto family of Anjuna along with the family members, attired in the prevailing popular fashion of the day... the period hats (including the Hindu gentlemen with his own black cap). The car is parked in front of a premier photo studio - Reis da Costa - way back more than a century ago in Mapusa, Goa. The rare black and white photograph blends two distinct aspects of Bardez; while the Gama Pinto household was prominent in Anjuna and the first one to possess a car in the village, every other newly wed couple posed proudly for their memorable wedding photograph, in the entire Bardez taluka in Goa, probably at Reis da Costa (Artista, Fotografo Premiado), in Mapusa town at that time. The coastal village of Anjuna and its beautiful beaches, of course, form the haunt of every world traveler today. The rare, beautiful picture was certainly captured by the lensman of "Reis da Costa".
