Finches of Bloedel
Small beautiful finches of Bloedel Conservatory at QE Park in Vancouver, BC Canada.
Green Singing Finch on the left and Tricolored Parrotfinch atop the orange. See how small the finches are compared to the halved-orange they are snacking in.
Green Singing Finch is one of the most popular small finches because the males are confident singers with a good voice. Despite the name 'green', the Green Singing Finch catches the eye because of its golden underparts, eyebrow, and 'mustache'. Females wear a necklace of dotted black in a band around their neck. They are about 13 grams (0.5 oz) in weight, 12 cm (4.7 in.) in size, and have a life span of 10-15 years.
--- Right Pet
The Tricolored Parrotfinch; sometimes called the Forbes Finch or the Tanimbar Parrotfinch, is a small estrildid finch native to Indonesia and East Timor. They prefer warmer subtropical climates, but can survive almost anywhere if adequate heat is provided. They are uncommon in aviculture, however many countries have a secure captive population.
