William wears the Lancastrian SS collar, He was Treasurer of the Kings Household to Henry V, Knight of the Garter c1419 , Privy Councellor, Chamberlain to Henry Vl A "valiant soldier" he fought with Henry V at Agincourt and had the chief conduct of his funeral. In July 1437 William and Joan obtained a royal licence for the foundation of ‘Phelippes chantry’ here, endowed with lands worth £20 a year; and in his Will of 1 December 1438 he issued detailed instructions for his burial here where 1,000 masses were to be sung for his soul immediately after his death (Their tomb was possibly made before their deaths)

Elizabeth Beaumont daughter and heir, died shortly after her father, as did Henry Beaumont his elder grandson, so the combined estates of Phelip, Erpingham and Bardolf all passed to his younger grandson William, later Viscount Beaumont.
