The left shield has or a greyhound courant sable between 3 lions faces azure, a bordure engrailed gules (Heneage) quartering gules 3 garbs or (Preston).
The central shield has been placed in the indent of a previous Trinity, curiously it is the Skipwith arms rather than Heneage. On either side are Heneage quartering Preston, and Heneage quartering Preston impaling Skipwith which is also on their tabards.
Originally a servant of Wolsey who advanced him to the Privey Chamber, Thomas Heneage also had the dubious privilege as Groom of the Stool 1536-1546 of attending the King whenever he used the close stool, his duties were to provide him with a flannel "to wipe his nether end" and then summon a Yeoman of the Chamber to empty and clean the pot. He was witness to the Kings chronic constipation and his efforts to relieve it. and was present when one night in 1539 the King took a laxative "he slept until 2 of the clock in the morning and then rose to go to the stool, which by working of the pills had a very fair siege" -- Perhaps too much information!! Being close to the king in his intimate moments also meant he could suggest favours for himself and friends who would reward him to ask - Perhaps too much information!! - Hainton church Lincolnshire
