Hants, Priors Dean
"Noble and generous Compton Tichborne esquire whose everlasting memorye perpetualy liveth in ye gratefull hearts of his (by him restored) family" At a guess he saved the estates from sequestration during the Commonwealth. He dyed March 17th 1657. Son of Elizabeth (Compton) www.flickr.com/photos/52219527@N00/685409293/ who died giving birth to him 1623 and Sir Benjamin Tichborne. Grandson of Bridget and John Compton www.flickr.com/photos/52219527@N00/685408887/ whose estate he inherited. On Compton's death the estate passed to his cousin, son of his uncle Francis Tichborne the brother of his father
Compton probably erected this monument to himself at the time he erected the one to his grandparents as they are in the same style and materials
