Alabaster tomb with the effigies of Sir William Feilding c 1475 - 1547 & wife Elizabeth Poultney 1539

 

“Here lyeth the body of Sir William Fielding, knight, late of Paddox / Padoxe Newneham, which deceased the 24th of September 1547 and Elizabeth his wife, daughter of Sir Thomas Poultney Knight which deceased the 8th of September 1539 who had issue fowr sonnes and i daughter. "

 

William was the son of Everard Feilding 1515 & Jellis Russel ; (Everard was sheriff of Warwick, of Leicester, and of Rutland who was in the king’s army against Simnel, at Stoke, 1487, and opposed to the Cornish men at Blackheath in 1497)

William was the grandson of William Fielding and Agnes Saint Liz daughter of - John (de) ST. LIZ & Jane Belers

 

Newnham manor was bought by his great grandfather John Feilding in 1433 from John Leventhorpe

Newnham was Inherited by his father Everard who before he died also bought part of the Monks Kirby former priory lands of the Carthusian monks of Axholme Lincs

 

He m Elizabeth 1539 daughter of Sir Thomas Pulteney / Poulteney of Misterton & Anne daughter of Ralph Shirley of Staunton Harold by Elizabeth co-heiress of Thomas Walsh of Great Whiteacre

She was the aunt of Sir Michsel Poulteney 1567 flic.kr/p/28xkMrx at Misterton
