Incised slab taken from the floor of the chapel, reduced in size and put on this plain table tomb. It marked the grave of Sir John Cokayne 1504 & wife Agnes Vernon.

Part of the inscription & 4 shields of arms survive

 

John was the son & heir of John Cockayne 1438 www.flickr.com/gp/52219527@N00/Pkj956 & 2nd wife Isabel Shirley (His elder half brother also called John had died without issue c1417/19 in their father's lifetime)

 

He m Agnes daughter of Sir Richard Vernon 1451 nephew/ heir of Sir Fulke de Pembrugge 1409 , by Benedicta de Ludlow flic.kr/p/4o9ULD daughter of Fulkes 1st wife Isabel Lingen (1446) www.flickr.com/photos/52219527@N00/2219918943/ and her second husband Sir John de Ludlow.
