Elizabeth was the daughter of John Beaumont 4th Baron and Katherine Everingham of Laxton (Her brother Henry m Elizabeth daughter of 5th Baron William Willoughby,c1370-1409.and 1st wife Lucy le Strange flic.kr/p/r3XxuU )

William went on the 1415 expedition to France with Henry V at the age of 26 and made his will before he set out (he became seriously ill at Harfleur - probably dysentry - and was shipped back to England on October 19th 1415),. In this will he desired to be buried here and he bequeathed Elizabeth "all the utensils, ornaments and furnature of my hall, chambers, kitchen, pantry and buttery except drinkiing cups, basins & ewers and other vessels of gold & silver. He also left her "a basin and ewer of silver, 5 newly made goblets, a drinking cup of gold with peacocks feathers and velvet" He left £1000 to be shared between his 2 daughters for their marriage portions, but if they inherited through lack of a son (his son & heir had not yet been born) the £1000 should be given to the poor and to buy books & vestments for such parish churches of my patronage as may want them and to help the poor tenants in my lordships"
3 priests were to celebrate divine services here for his soul and the souls of his ancestors until a college could be founded +++. £2 each to the 4 orders of friars at Bristol and other friaries / monasteries. On ever Wednesday a penny to each of 24 paupers"
+++ However he survived and In 1423 royal licence was granted to William and Elizabeth to convert this church into a college of 7 chaplains and 4 clerks, 1 of the chaplains being in charge as rector of the college of St. Michael. The chaplains were allowed to acquire property to the value of 100 marks, including the advowson of the church, and land whereon to build a manse.
William m2 pre 1458 Margaret 1488 daughter of Thomas de Ros, 8th Baron 1430 by Eleanor 1467 daughter of Richard de Beauchamp, 13th Earl of Warwick
Margaret survived him and m2 Thomas Burgh, 1st Baron Burgh of Gainsburgh 1496 . Thomas and Margaret were buried at Gainsborough
