Buoy o Buoy!
Excerpt from Barrow Evening Mail:
The buoy washed up on the shore at Biggar Bank near The Castle pub, attracting crowds of onlookers to inspect the beached object.
A spokesman from DONG Energy said: "DONG Energy operates floating wind measurement buoys (FLiDARs) in the Irish sea, and one of these buoys deployed at the north west corner of the West of Duddon Sands wind farm has broken free of its moorings and washed ashore on Walney Island.
"The buoy does not pose any risk to the environment or the public.
"The coastguard and local harbour masters have been notified, and DONG Energy will be working with the operator of the buoy to salvage and retrieve the unit and its mooring system."
