Dactylocnemis 'Mokohinau Islands'

This is a Mokohinau gecko on Burgess Island (Mokohinau Island group). These little critters belong to the pacific gecko complex of the genus Dactylocnemis. While they are considered distinct from D. pacificus proper, their species still awaits formal description.

 

This species is highly abundant on the island (some of the highest densities I have ever encountered) and they are highly polymorphic with regards to colouration and pattern.
