Bobby Martin (Bobby Martin Productions)
Bobby Martin of Bobby Martin Productions Prestigious Award
Bobby Martin of Bobby Martin Productions is set to receive the 2012 TSOP Award. For those of you who don't know much about R&B and Soul music, TSOP stands for The Sound of Philadelphia. Bobby Martin is known as a legend in the Soul and R&B music genre, as well as the Disco and Funk genre. Bobby Martin is Soul, Disco, Funk and R&B all the way! He is an accomplished composer, conductor and overall maestro as well, and his roots stretch back as far as the Jazz and Big Band era. This legendary Philadelphia Sound producer and arranger is much more than a Soul and R&B producer. Bobby Martin has composed Classical tunes as well as Big Band swing and Jazz standards. This is what separates Martin from other R&B producers, and you can hear it all in his music! He is The Granddaddy of R&B and Soul, he discovered Patti LaBelle and produced her first album! Bobby Martin started producing R&B and Soul professionally before the legendary Quincy Jones did, and only to later find himself producing with Quincy Jones at A&M and Colombia Records etc., etc. Bobby Martin and Quincy Jones have a lot of similarities, they are both about the same age, and they both recorded Michael Jackson. The only difference between Quincy and Bobby is that Bobby Martin never let the public know that he had, or still has such great Jazz chops. Bobby started out playing the vibraphone professionally with Lionel Hampton and Frank Foster around the same time that Quincy had started out playing professionally on the road. In the late 1970's Quincy Jones commented and took notice of Bobby Martins expertise as a Jazz producer on his album entitled "Body Heat." Bobby Martin is very skilled when it comes to producing or composing Jazz music, he is undoubtable, you can hear all of his Jazz orchestrations in the song "Me And Mrs. Jones." Bobby Martin can be both Jazzy and Funky. A good example of this is when Bobby Martin produced Quincy Jones's hit song "Killer Joe" at Colombia Records. You can hear a different side of Bobby Martin from the same Bobby Martin that wrote "Let's Fall in Love All Over Again" for Nancy Wilson, Billy Paul and Lou Rawls! And this is the same producer that produced the Jazz legend Benny Golson. Then later on you find out that Bobby Martin produced Tavares and he wins one of the most prestigious Grammy Awards of all times for his production on The Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack with The Bee Gees! Above this article is a close up photo of this Saturday Night Fever Grammy Award, and it only symbolizes or demonstrates one of Bobby Martins productions. Bobby Martin Productions is Bobby Martins production company, but the name represents all of Bobby Martins productions and arrangements. If you look up Bobby Martins discography of hit records and CDs, it goes into the high hundreds. However, for those of you who are not familiar with Bobby Martin and his contributions to music, here is a close up of only one of his awards. And once again, the award shown above is one of the most prestigious Grammy Awards to have ever been awarded to a music producer.
