Bobby Martin produced, arranged and wrote countless platinum hit songs at Philadelphia's Sigma Sound Studios. Bobby Martin (Producer), Kenneth Gamble, Leon Huff and Thom Bell all worked intensively with engineer Joe (Joseph) Tarsia. Philadelphia Legend Bobby Martin once stated that Sigma Sounds technology was an important part of The Philly Sound (The Sound of Philadelphia). Although Bobby Martin had signed independent producer contracts with Colombia Records, CBS, Warner Bros., Capitol Records and A&M Records, he referred to Philadelphia's Sigma Sound Studios as his home base. Bobby Martin productions was his first home and Philadelphia International Records (Sigma Sound Studios) was his second! Located at 212 N. 12th Street in Philadelphia, Sigma Sound Studios was the second studio in the country to offer 24-track recording and the first in the country to use console automation. Most people today don't recall exactly where all of that classic Philadelphia Sound was recorded. But we all remember Lou Rawls, Billy Paul, The Jacksons, The O'Jays, and songs like Me And Mrs. Jones. Many of these classic hits were arrranged and produced by Bobby Martin at Sigma Sound Studios, others were produced by Gamble & Huff. One thing is for sure, The Sound of Philadelphia is still very much alive today in 2012.
