WEATHER – Check out weather at www.wunderground.com o www.weather.com/ or any such sites under Vigo, rather than Cies which won’t appear. Normally there’s 15 to 25 degrees Celsius, or 50 to 86 degrees Fº during the summer. Do take into account that it may rain in Galicia during summertime. The sun beats down heavily and there's a high presence of iodine in the isles which means that you might end up very sunburnt in a very short time.

However, there’s a microclimate in the Islands which makes them 4 degrees Celsius hotter than inland, as well as having a drier climate. It could rain in Vigo but not in Cies.

Check temperature conversion at www.onlineconversion.com/temperature.htm

DISTRICTS – There's three islands. The North Island, where the dock, main bar/restaurant, life-guard, info kiosk, ferry kiosk and 2 walking routes (to Alto de Principe and Peito Lighthouse) are.
The Middle Island, connected to the North one by a stone bridge (best place to watch the sunset); where you'll find two other bar/restaurants, showers, toilets (there's no toilets anywhere else in the island!!), grocery store, check-in camping kiosk and camping site (split in two parts). And the South Island which is only accessible through private boat and not inhabited.

TRANSPORT – Take the ferry to the Islands from any of three cities; Baiona, Vigo or Cangas. Check out this webpage for fares, hours and general info www.mardeons.com/
17.50 euros return trip and 45 minutes travel depending on sea conditions. Return time is closed (already determined when purchasing ticket). Normally you can return earlier in the day but later is difficult as the two last ferries are the most solicited by passengers, especially those going for the day and not staying at the Camping site.

There is no vehicles whatsover in the island (except for the metal carts to transport luggage). Everything is on foot.

TOURISM – The main thing to do here is take in some rays and explore the beach; there's not much else. At night the bar stays open till 1 or 2am (2am by end of August) where people drink and talk, play pool, cards or parchesee. That's it.

INFO – Take some canned food which doesn't require cold storage. It will save you some money in the grocery store (which can get a bit pricey; they know there's no competition). The bread (French baguette) is 80 cents and you can pre-reserve it, since there's high demand for it. Do splurge and eat a couple of time at the restaurants since the food is excellent and you can eat a good meal for around 12-15 euros.

If you don't want to do all 4 routes, stick to doing just the Cies Lighthouse and the Alto de Principe routes. They offer the best views.

FOOD – Absolutely the fish and seafood (the octopus is famous but there's really nothing less than great). Try any of the three restaurants in the Isles.
