CN 2567 Westbound W62191-30 East of Raymond IA
CN is already getting their maintenance work projects going in Iowa. A few rock trains have been running around to help the flooding issues on the Omaha Sub and to get rock in position for work projects start in April. One thing new CN is doing is dumping rock off a slot type train for crossing renewals. Here a rock train heads to Waterloo in the late evening as they are done for the day distributing rock along the west end of the Dubuque Sub. This train stopped at a few crossings west of Independence and left piles of rock. The train is madeup of a few trains that are connected by a conveyor belt that is thru the cars. They are connect to a dumper car (blue/yellow cars) that can dump rock via an arm that reaches out to the right of way.
