BNSF 9789 Southbound Coal South of Wendover WY
A coal train bound for the Laramie Basic Electric Station crawls out of the Wendover River Valley south of Wendover on the BNSF Front Range Sub. The train will use the Front Range Sub for 20 miles to access the power plant near Wheatland, WY, at Moba Junction. This train will tackle the 1% grade for the next 10 miles to Dwyer. This is the line from Denver to Wendover via Cheyenne.
This was my 1st trip out west by myself. I had some of those trusty Firestone Tires they had all the recalls on in the early 2000's. They were complete junk and I ended up getting something like 20 some flat tires on my 15 day trip. I remember on this chase getting 2 flat tires and barely limping back to Guernsey and having to buy a new tire. It was awesome!
