Pacemaker Graphics Speed - Crown Booklet (1947)

This is a scan of the front cover of "The Pacemaker Speed Graphic" booklet, announcing the arrival of the "Pacemaker Speed Graphic" and "Pacemaker Crown Graphic" cameras. Both cameras were large format 4x5 "press cameras" introduced by the "Graflex" in 1947.

Besides boasting the "LIGHTNESS, STRENGHT AND DURABILITY" of the Pacemaker series, the booklet also provides details of accessories that would have been available from Graflex. Such as: different lenses (Wide angle/wide field, and telephoto), shutters ("Supermatic" and "GRAPHEX"), film receptacles/film holders, an enlarger (the "GRAFLARGER"), carrying cases, and flashbulbs (aka "GRAFLIGHTS")

An interesting thing to note about the "Crown Graphic", is that is was the first Graflex camera produced without a focal plane shutter. It should also be noted that despite being called the "Speed Graphic", it was in fact a rather slow camera to use. Between exposures the photographer was required to change the sheet film, focus the camera, cock the shutter, and then fire the shutter. However, film holders were available that could hold up to 12 sheets; allowing the photographer to take pictures more quickly.

I found this booklet in a box full of old "Good Housekeeping" magazines from the 1950's and 60s. Sometimes I enjoy looking through old photography booklets, manuals and magazines. They can provide alot of information on a particular model of camera, including the features and accessories available.
