Apache (M-DSA) - KRIC-1

Modernized Day Sensor Assembly (M-DSA)

Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (M-TADS/PNVS), or the “eyes of the Apache,” provides AH-64 Apache pilots with advanced targeting and pilotage in day, night, adverse weather and extreme environmental conditions. M-DSA is the latest enhancement to the M-TADS/PNVS system.

M-DSA’s Laser Range Finder Designator enhances the performance of the M-TADS/PNVS, increasing the designation and ranging capabilities of the system to fully accommodate weapons fielded today and planned for the future.

M-DSA includes an upgraded near infrared (NIR) and color sensor that allows Apache pilots to see high-resolution, high-definition NIR and color imagery on displays in the cockpit. M-DSA also incorporates additional fields of view that allow image blending with the M-TADS FLIR and enable Apache pilots to see cultural and military lighting more clearly. A new laser pointer marker improves communication and coordination with ground troops. Additionally, M-DSA incorporates an updated multi-mode laser with eye-safe lasing capability to support flight in urban environments and critical training exercises.
