With my development there was alot of experimenting but it was sort of the same experiments. I ended up using drift wood but i started off with branches pulled of trees as i liked the bark. It was no where near as effective as driftwood though. My main developments were just trying to get the process of heating right to get the texture perfectly how i wanted it.

Done
