Moon

Trying to optimise detail in this familiar shot. I had used the 300mm lens + 1.7TC on the tripod before but been disappointed at lack of sharpness. Although the tripod is secure the heavy lens and camera wobbles a bit in the ball mount when touched. I think the cordless remote is better than the 2 or 5 second delay in eliminating movement from touching the camera. I reasoned that the shutter release alone is probably jerking the camera enough to cause movement and lose clarity at this degree of magnification. A faster shutter speed did not really fix the problem. So I tried supporting the Camera body by attaching the monopod and wedging the camera up into the exact position, I think this is working well. Perhaps not up to astro photography, but certainly OK on the moon.
