The DME based a wayfreight out of Rochester for my entire memory. It lasted into the CP days, but in the past few years it's been run 3 days a week out of Waseca.
Here, the train returns north to the yard office, sometime in the early 1990s. It is passing the former Sears warehouse, which still has a siding, though it hasn't seen service in decades. The gantry crane over the siding is visible just beyond the wooden pole at right.
The call box is former Great Western. This was likely where northbound Great Western trains called the Rochester yardmaster for permission to enter the yard. The call box was still there when I was a kid in the early 2000s.
