Glenwood Fountain 06-10-2009

As far as I know, this is one of the last remaining artifacts from the Glenwood Manor-Glenwood Theatre complex. It's my understanding that water would flow from the top and trickle down the sides. I don't recall seeing it in operation. I'm assuming that by the late 1970's the fountain no longer worked or was cost prohibitive and the shrubbery was added.

The only other structure that I am aware of that still exists from that era on this property is the New Theatre Restaurant. I believe that building to be the old Glenwood Manor Convention Center. The JOCO Aims website states that particular structure having been built in 1973. I am assuming the 1973 building replaced the earlier convention center that was built in the 1960's. I'm not sure if the original convention/meeting facility continued to be used or was torn down after the 1973 structure was built right next to it. I input the address 9229 Foster at this link for info on the structure...

This overhead from Bing shows that the shopping center looks to have been built in front of and around the 1973 building.
