I came up to the farmhouse from Sydney with the cat but no wife. Tanya's coming up tomorrow night. Eery being in this big old house alone tonight. Well, alone with puss. Then I walk down the hallway and there's bright light shining through the front door, like a strobe. Only its lightning. Really going OFF around this huge storm cloud to the north, with barely the sound of thunder reaching us. WOW. Ok, shove the cat in the lounge room and shut the door. Race out to the car and grab tripod. Grab camera, change lenses. Get settings right. Race out to the backyard, frame, start shooting. Second thoughts. Race back inside, put shoes on (rubber soles), grab torch, change lens (doh!), get remote switch, race back outside to a different spot, just in time to get the WOW shot of a pretty fast 10 minutes of sky chaos. Then it was all over.
