Unnamed Jewel

Unnamed on various maps I've consulted, but this place is very important!
Generally, wetlands are hugely productive and comparable to rainforests in the amount of species supported. As a buffer zone, a wetland will filter and control the flow of water, improving quality and controlling flooding. More wetland benefits
You will encounter this beaver pond* just East of Government Peak in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness.
The pond is the most visible headwaters of the Carp River, which flows roughly South and then West to feed Lake of the Clouds, and drain further beyond into Lake Superior.
*I'd also call it a moose pond but no moose. Instead we spotted a fine beaver lodge.
