The Dampfspektakel proper finished on April 5th but on the 6th enthusiasts funded a number of passenger and photo freight runs. Whilst most of the action was centred on the Eifelquerbahn between Gerolstein and Ulmen, an IR Express from Trier to Köln Deutz was entrusted to steam. DB Class 41 2-8-2 41 360 lays down a pretty impressive smokescreen as it tackles the "Schmidtheimer Berg" near the summit at Schmidtheim. There was also a Class 52 hauled freight due to work over this stretch but although it was reported as all ready to depart from Gerolstein, it never appeared so this was our last steam working of a fantastic five days in Germany.
