On How She Decided On Country Music
“I remember as a little girl, I always wanted to sing. I would record myself with my little boombox, with my little microphone and give my mom tapes of me singing. I think music moves your soul. I played violin for five years and I’ve always written. I’ve written short stories and poetry and stuff and I started writing music because I had these melodies in my head. I was like I’ve always wanted to sing, I’ve always wanted to put a record out; I think I’ll just go in and put down mayble like three songs that I wrote. That was my original intention when I first went to Nashville, you know, just so I could say that I did it. When I got there, it was incredible how many doors flew open. My first producer was like, ‘Why would you settle’? So I went after it…I’m going after it.”
