Giant Parrot Snake (Leptophis occidentalis)

Formerly Leptophis ahaetulla. Photographed in Coronado, Panama. This snake fell out of a tree in front of me after it had been mobbed by a noisy Clay coloured Thrush. I moved it a few yards away into a tree in our garden. On release it was more intent on presenting a threat display than escaping. The closer I got the wider it's mouth became. It was difficult to get a shot of it with it's mouth shut.
