Horseshoe Whip Snake (Hemorrhois hippocrepis)

This is as close as I could get to this wily old snake as it sunned itself on a breeze block wall. As I tried to move closer it slipped backwards into the gap in the wall it was coming out of. Seen in Oliva, Valencia province, Spain.
