Smooth Snake

Yesterday was meant to rain in the morning......which we had.......and cloudy sunshine for the rest......which we didn't have! We just had on and off heavy rain and wind with a few sunny spells.

But in-between the showers I did see some dragonflies, damselflies and the odd butterfly. Mainly Sliver-studded males and females in several large groups and the odd lost flighty meadow brown

While I was looking for the butterflies and dragonflies I did come across a number of snakes, two are in today's update. Saw a number of grass snakes, but they were off before I got my camera focused. The adder and smooth snake I managed 3 or 4 shots before they were off. The adder I found by a pond edge as I was looking for dragonflies and the smooth was spotted by pure luck as I was kneeling to take some captures of a female Silver-Studded butterfly the snake was sleeping under a gorse bush. It didn't stay there for long..........
