3G Service

On a cloudless September morning, Pan Am train WAPO is just two miles from his terminus of Rigby Yard as he passes through CPF-196 in Portland, ME, just before crossing the Fore River into South Portland. Formerly known as Mountain Junction, this interlocking governs the east leg of the wye at Yard 8 (seen in the bottom right) and the junction with the former Mountain Subdivision, now known as the Mountain Branch and used primarily by Amtrak to reach Portland Station. The trio of Guilford painted units, including one of each of Pan Am's rostered GP40 variants, looks more like a lashup that would've been commonplace 15 years ago, but is somewhat rare today with the increasing amount of power wearing dark blue.
