Another aggregate hauling shortline in New Hampshire that doesn't see much railfan publicity is the Milford-Bennington Railroad. Operating only in the summer months when the demand for concrete is high, the railroad runs over 5.5 miles of the former B&M Hillsborough Branch from the Granite State Concrete Plant in Milford to the quarry just south of South Lyndeborough. A typical day on the line sees the railroad's sole power, an ex-CN SW9 shove 10 hoppers with a caboose leading north from the Milford plant to the quarry, load, and return to the plant, making two round trips in total. The train is seen here loading stone at the South Lyndeborough quarry on a hot July day.
