Art in the Neighborhoods
Winds of Change was created by Argentina-born artist Cecilia Lueza and installed in the Brainerd community as part of Art in the Neighborhoods. According to Lueza, the sculpture is titled, Winds of Change, because its purpose is to promote the value of diversity, the benefits of inclusion and the significance of tolerance. The angel in this piece has been painted in a wide range of colors as a way of representing diversity, inclusiveness, hope and yearning. The hand is holding the colorful figure in the air like a small flag, demonstrating the diversity enriches our lives. In 2011, the sculpture was purchased for the City's collection with private funds. For more information on Cecilia Lueza, visit www.lueza.com.
