Chelone lyonii 'Tiny Tortuga' WW39 Turtlehead S2-
Chelone lyonii 'Tiny Tortuga' WW39 Turtlehead S2- (Lentjes, NL 2015) Turtlehead, Mature plant size: 15x18in., Pink turtle-head shaped flowers, USDA Hardiness Zone 3-8, Michigan Bloom Month 9a, In Garden Bed S2 for 7.0 YEARS (Lowes,). Planted in 2015.
A little-known American native perennial that thrives in damp soils. Offspring of well-known variety 'Hot Lips'. Blooms in late summer to early fall and performs well in shade. Slightly darker foliage than 'Hot Lips'
2020 note: Tiny Tortuga is an offspring of Hot Lips. I have them growing side by side. The only difference that is obvious to me is that Hot Lips leaves are a somewhat lighter shade of green. Both are close to 3 feet tall. Flowers are unusual. aka 'Armtipp02'
