Paeonia 'Chinese Dragon' 5/2022 Woody S1- (Saunders, 1948) (2-SD-RD) Lutea hybrid Woody Peony, Mature plant size: 48in., RED, single to semi-double form, red petals, dark red flares, red filaments, yellow anthers, early bloomer, red tipped carpels, USDA Hardiness Zone 3-8, Michigan Bloom Week ISO WW21, In Garden Bed S1 for 4.7 YEARS (Adelman). Planted in 2017.
American Peony Society: (Saunders 1948) - Crimson red with black-red flares and golden yellow stamens. Semi-double bloom covers finely cut foliage, which is deep green with a touch of bronze.
APS Gold Medal winner 1983. This woody is on its own roots, not grafted. Several new shoots in 2020. The foliage on this woody looks better than most of my other woodies, looks healther. Seems to be spreading out.
