Hydrangea macrophylla 'Cityline Venice' 'Venice Raven' 9/2021 Bigleaf-

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Cityline Venice' 'Venice Raven' 9/2021 Bigleaf- (Rampp, 1999) Compact Bigleaf Hydrangea, Mature size: 3x3’, Blue or pink, USDA Hardiness Zone 5, Michigan Bloom Month 6, In Garden Bed D1 for 3.1 YEARS (Hirt's). Planted in 2018.

The Citiline® series is a Proven Winners© collection of dwarf hydrangeas from Europe (Venice, Mars, Berlin, Paris, Vienna and Rio). Hydrangea macrophylla 'Venice Raven' (PP10928, 1999) is a compact plant with mophead flowers that range from deep blue to hot pink depending on soil pH. Flowers mature to green. Mildew resistant. Supposedly does not require pruning. Although it is rated to zone 5, winter protection may be prudent.

2020 note: 15 of the plants in this garden have drip irrigation. I waited until mid summer to turn it on this year. I think I will enable much earlier next year. Also, this garden is mostly shaded. I was thinking shaded and moist for big leaf hydrangeas. There are several in this garden. I do not remember if I protected this plant last winter.
