Thuja occidentalis 'Hetz Midget' (Fairview Nurseries, PA 1942) 2020 photo - Common Name: Dwarf American or Eastern Arborvitae, Size at 10 years: 3x3ft., Blue-green foliage, USDA Hardiness Zone 2, Michigan Bloom Month 7-9, In Garden Bed G1 for 9.5 YEARS (Lowes). Planted in 2010.

 

Oregon State University: Conifer, evergreen shrub, dwarf, globose, very slow growing, annual growth only 2.5 cm, to 3-4 ft (0.9-1.2 m) tall, somewhat wider spread, shoots rather stout, foliage green, arranged in flat sprays.Native to USDA Zone 3. Originated about 1928 as a seedling in Fairview Nurseries, Fairview, Pennsylvania, introduced in 1942. Sun or part shade, well-drained soil.

 

Big box item. Conifer, evergreen shrub, dwarf, globose, very slow growing, annual growth only 1 inch, matures to 3-4 ft tall with slightly wider spread, foliage green, flat sprays. One is just outside the back door, so the dogs tend to water it. Planted in 2010. Plan on trimming lower branches this year, 2016. ~2x2 ft, 2016. 32in.Hx25inW, 2019 (8.5 years old).
