Abelia mosanensis, 2018 photo, Common Name: Korean Abelia Fragrant Abelia
"Abelia mosanensis, 2018 photo, Common Name: Korean Abelia Fragrant Abelia, Size: 8x5ft., Glossy green leaves, pink buds, pinkish-white flowers, USDA Hardiness Zone 3-6, Michigan Bloom Month 5-6, In Garden Bed K5 a78 j2.7 for 1.3 YEARS (Hirt). Planted in 2017.
Requires full sun and flowers on old wood, which means that it should be pruned after flowering. Recommended by Michael Dirr. More hardy than A. x grandiflora which has not survived the Michigan winters for me. Pink buds open to fragrant, tubular, pinkish-white flowers. Attractive to butterflies. Fall foliage is orange-red. Semi-evergreen. AKA Zabelia tyaihyonii and commonly call fragrant Abelia or Korean Abelia (Its a native of Korea). Abelia 'Bridal Bouquet' could to be a marketing name for the species or possibly the same as A. mosanensis ‘Monia’.
