I wrap the Marabilis with plastic wrap, a method I use for dahlia tubers. Marabilis produces a fat root rather than a tuber. In the Spring, I divide the roots if I can clearly see buds. Easy with a sharp knife. If you leave one bud per cut, you are good to go. I just cut and plant. I do not worry about the exposed root. I suppose you could treat the wound with sulfur for whatever... but they are not currently covered under a health care plan.
