Blush white lactiflora group peony which was bred by Mr. E. H. Lins of Cologne, Minnesota and released in 1948. GARDENIA, Lins (USA), 1955, Paeonia lactiflora, Full double white cultivar with the occasional yellow stamen visible in the center of the large blooms. During dark and wet blooming seasons the flowers show a blush to light pink coloring. 'Gardenia' is named after the genus to which the flower form is comparable. Many sidebuds. Dark green and fairly coarse leaflets on thick red-tinted stems.
