A clump-forming perennial that has finely cut, long, thin leaves with spiny tips. Full sun to part shade. In zone 5 (think Michigan), Winter mulch is suggested. Tolerates many types of soil, but not wet ones. Spreads aggressively via creeping roots in loose soil.
