Under A Pine at Smith Rock
Smith Rock State Park is a unique place offering hiking, rock climbing, camping and great photo opportunities. Born from volcanic rock formation it stands out in this central Oregon high desert area. The major rock faces are basalt, welded tuff, a compressed volcanic ash formed 30 million years ago. The tallest peaks are around 3000 feet high.
This day was a real hot one, with only a few wispy, thin clouds and shade was in short supply. I saw this composition from the trail, ducked into the shade and cranked up the polarizing filter while enjoying the sound of the rushing water from the Crooked River.
