15-352 The Camel - Co. Antrim Coast

Taken 03/08/15; Very similar to a snap I uploaded two years ago. From the web:

"Some 60 million years ago, Antrim was subject to violent volcanic activity: molten basalt poured down through its chalk beds, but on cooling rapidly, it contracted to create cracks between the now pillar-like structures. Today, the Giant’s Causeway is home to an incredible collection of 40,000 basalt columns, interlocked in a beautiful, geometric web. As such, it’s the only UNSCO World Heritage site in Northern Ireland, situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are a number of interesting structures in the area, weathered by several million years of storms, crashing seas and such, creating shapes like the ‘Giant’s Boot’ and the ‘Camel’s Hump’. Keep your eyes open for local flora and fauna too, which include plant species like the oddly named sea spleenwort, and birds like fulmar, petrel and cormorant."
