The civil engineering of the Shibanxi line is reminiscent of the Ffestiniog Railway, with much use of local stone and several high curved stone embankments.
The weather has much in common with North Wales too, but on a clear day the scenery is beautiful. Here a short scheduled passenger train crosses the most impressive embankment between Jiaoba and Xianrenjaio.
