GreaterRhea

Distantly related to yesterday's Emu is the Greater Rhea, which is similar in size and shape but is native to South America. A few weeks after finding yesterday's bird and a couple of miles from it, I found a whole herd of flightless birds including both Emus and Rheas. Whilst I'm sure these were domestic birds, a feral population of over 500 Rheas has become established (from escaped farm birds) in north eastern Germany and I saw some there a few years ago when visiting the Mollibahn.
