Workstations

After seeing so many nice home office setups I decided to post mine. Several years ago my home office was a spare bedroom. When one of my kids decided he needed to be on my payroll again I was evicted to the living room. After a while my wife wanted me out of there as well and said I could finish off our screened in patio. I was in luck because it already had a real roof on it and just needed windows and a door. I did 95% of the work myself. The only things I paid to have done were the windows and the gas fireplace installation. I didn't want to cut any more holes in the roof than necessary so I opted for a ventless model. Since the room is on a cement slab and it gets way to cold here in Michigan I built a subfloor with styrofoam insulation and a moisture barrier below that. I also need to cut a hole in the ceiling to insultate it and installed a couple of roof vents as well. I've always liked the cabin look with so I went with knotty pine paneling for the ceiling, flooring and trim work. For electrical power I ran a new dedicated circuit with plenty of outlets. I also ran cat5, cable tv, and phone lines from the house. The entire project took about 6 months of elapsed time and about 100 trips to home depot. I spend more time in this room than anywhere else in the house as I use it for my new career of job hunting and for gaming.
